The DAWG Pound
Paws & Pals is a therapy dog and mentoring program developed to help in the healing of children and teens struggling with mental health issues. Our program starts with our amazing community facility, “The DAWG Pound,” a safe and fun space that houses our “village” of healing. We like to refer to the Paws & Pals facility as “The Dawg Pound” because it is a positive and non-threatening name that kids will not associate with therapy or mental illness. We strive for “The Dawg Pound” to be a space where kids know everyone is welcome, and judgement is left at the door.
The Paws & Pal’s Dawg Pound is a 9000 sq. ft. building at 3713 SW Hwy 40, Blue Springs, MO 64015. It act as a community building for the young people in Eastern Jackson County, but all are welcome. It’s been designed with healing areas offering activities like dance, art, fitness, play drama, support groups, yoga/meditation and lots and lots of games. These areas will give every Pal, Paw, Mentor and family member the opportunity to thrive, heal and have fun. The Dawg Pound is proud to be inclusive by offering numerous activities and experiences for everyone, like our bunny patch for our disabled and autistic friends.
Please contact us if you know of a facility or organization that would like to visit the DAWG Pound.
